NIO Got Listed on the “2024 Sustainability Brand Pioneers Index” and Won Three Awards

Recently, the “2024 Sustainability Brand Pioneers Index” by Huxiu was officially unveiled. With its outstanding performance in the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) field, NIO won three prestigious awards, including the annual award of “Sustainability Brand Pioneers”, becoming the only automotive company to receive this accolade. In the category of Environmental (E) Awards, NIO was honored with the “Clean Opportunity Award” and the “Environmentally Friendly Award”, which demonstrates its exceptional efforts in promoting fair and just energy transition and green development.

According to Huxiu, the award application and selection took two months, with the involvement of the organizing committee comprising representatives from leading global institutions as well as experts and scholars from renowned universities. The committee conducted professional assessments covering a company’s financial performance, assurance, governance structure, and compliance. Out of 197 nominated companies, 47 were ultimately selected, sharing 11 awards (including 1 annual award and 10 individual awards). The "Sustainability Brand Pioneers Award", the annual award, was presented to 10 companies with the best overall ESG performance over the past year, in recognition of their contribution to boosting sustainable development and improving the business environment. The "Clean Opportunity Award" recognizes companies whose profit model is in line with the sustainability principles, and the "Environmentally Friendly Award" celebrates those whose operations support ecological conservation objectives.

Huxiu commented on the "Sustainability Brand Pioneers Award" presented to NIO: “In an era where ESG reports often lack substance, NIO’s report is insightful and solid, demonstrating the company’s commitment to ESG practices. "NIO has set a new benchmark for the circular economy in the transportation sector", said Jijiang He, a scholar from Tsinghua University. "NIO integrates green and low-carbon concepts across the whole process of design, material selection, manufacturing, transportation, operations, and recycling, protecting the blue sky through the promotion of electric vehicles, the battery recycling system and the Clean Parks initiatives”, wrote SGS Standard Technical Services.

The three awards presented to NIO recognizes NIO’s dedication to sustainability, highlights its leadership in driving ESG development as a global leading new energy vehicle company, and serves as a testament to NIO’s mission of "Shaping a Sustainable and Brighter Future Together".
